Isamu Noguchi Akari Light Sculptures Available at Modele’s.

Isamu Noguchi (November 1, 1904-December 3, 1988) was an American artist and architect whose artistic career spanned six decades, from the 1920s onward. Known for his sculpture and public works, Noguchi also designed stage sets for Martha Graham productions, and several mass-produced lamps and furniture pieces, some of which are still produced in Japan to this day.

Akari Light Sculptures by Isamu Noguchi are considered icons of 1950s modern design. Designed by Noguchi beginning in 1951 and handmade for a half century by the original manufacturer in Gifu, Japan, the paper lanterns are a harmonious blend of Japanese handcraft and modernist form. The lamps are created from handmade washi paper and bamboo ribbing, supported by a metal frame. The lamp accommodates up to a 40 watt bulb (not included).

The Vitra Verner Panton ‘S’ Chair at Modele’s.

Created by Verner Panton in 1960, with the assistance of Vitra technicians, the ‘S’ chair was the world’s first molded plastic chair and is considered to be one of the masterpieces of Danish design.

A mid-century modern sculptural design, crafted from durable polypropylene, the chair is both stylish and durable. It can be used individually or in groups and is suited for indoor and outdoor environments. The ergonomic design means the chair is stackable making it convenient for storage.

Please note that special added additives slow down the fading process caused by ultraviolet rays. However, leaving the chair exposed to the sun for an extended period of time can result in color changes. We recommend not leaving the chair in the sun.

Lightweight and wipe-clean, it is ideal for family use . The ‘S’ chair offers great seating comfort thanks to the cantilever base, together with its shape and flexible materials.

An icon of the twentieth century the chair even featured on the cover of British Vogue in 1995!

The Verner Panton ‘S’ Chair currently retails new at $620.00 a pair .

Our price: 350.00 per pair.

We currently have 8 white and 2 black.
